10 April 1945
It is now so dark I can hardly see so I’m going to just be able to write a short note to let you know I am alright.
This has been a hectic day, it started raining at noon and has poured ever since. I had on my steel helmet and raincoat, but in spite of that I am soaked to my hips. I went over the top of my combat boots several times. I haven’t been able to get a bath since our landing. That is, I mean, over my entire body. I called at the hospital three different times today, as well as the cemetery, Division Headquarters and other companies.
I’ll try to write a better letter tomorrow if possible. God bless you my Dearest in all things. Give the folks my love.
Yours my dearest forever in the love
Of Christ Jesus our Lord,
P.S. Enclosed you will find two more letters from Jack and Bertha.
